POLAR EXPRESS DAY

Dear Parents,
ALL ABOARD THE POLAR EXPRESS as we begin our Winter Literacy Adventure!
We are so excited for our special day we have planned for Monday, December 18th. Your child’s day will be filled with an abundance of hands-on learning that will provide a rich, meaningful connection to our literacy selection, The Polar Express. Thank you so much for all of your support. The first grade team is really excited for our learning filled day.
P.S. Great News! Your child may wear his/her pajamas on this magical day!  (Pants and tops only for the pajamas, please.  No night gowns and no slippers for safety reasons.)
                                                 Thank you!

HOLIDAY BOOK EXCHANGE

Parents,
I am excited to announce that our classroom will be holding a holiday book exchange on Wednesday, December 19, 2017!

As you know, reading is so important and what better way to ring in the holiday season than celebrating with a new book?

Your child should bring a book that could be for a boy or a girl (gender neutral). Please wrap the book in some fun wrapping paper with a tag telling who the book is FROM. We will be playing a game that will have us passing the books around and around, so we do not know where they will “land” – maybe with a boy, maybe with a girl. That is why the books need to be gender neutral. Also, we have lots of super readers, so PLEASE do not get SUPER, SUPER simple books.

Books can be new books bought at the store or gently used books from home or the thrift store. If you are exchanging a new book, please try to keep the book under $7. If you are exchanging a used book, please make sure it is gently used. Remember, this will be a brand new book to another child!

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need help bringing in a book for the exchange. I am so excited because the children always have a wonderful time!

PARENTING IN THE DIGITAL AGE

Nov. 13th- Parent Information MEETING

Dr. Patti Agatston will be here at 8:30 in the morning and 5:30 in the afternoon to discuss Parenting in the digital age. She visited Addison last year and her session was extremely informative for any parent who has a school age child. There is so much out there that our kids are exposed to.

REMINDERS

Tomorrow is Spirit Day! Wear green, Addison wear, or Leader in Me t-shirt.

Thanksgiving Day lunches will be Thursday, November 16 (for us). Our time will be 12:10. A sheet will be coming home tomorrow.

We are beginning a “Thanks for Giving” food drive.
Our classroom donation goal is 100. The students may bring in non-perishable items. They can bring in their items to class so that we can tally them for our goal sheet outside our classroom. Then, I will send them to the cafeteria to drop off the donation in the designated donation areas. We need to tally the items first because the SLT reps will be coming by to see who is leading in the donations. The class with the most donations will win a treat.
The food drive ends 11/14/17.
