WEEK OF FEBRUARY 12

Hello Parents! 



What is your child learning this week?
In Math, we will continue/complete strategies for adding two digit/one digit and  two digit/multiples of 10. We will also begin Subtraction Gumball Math! We have been having a lot of fun learning about error analysis and working in "fix-it" centers. 

In Social Studies, we will complete our unit on Theodore Roosevelt. Please remember that on February 16, we will have Teddy Bear Day, and we will be watching "Night at the Museum" as an end to our Theodore Roosevelt unit. Please return the movie permission form ONLY if your child is NOT ALLOWED to watch the movie. 

In Reading/Language Arts/Writing, we will be continuing our unit on opinion writing. We will learn how to write book reviews including opinion and reasons using evidence from the text as examples.

February 16th -  Teddy Bear Day/Movie Day

February 27th - Spirit Night at Firehouse Subs


REMINDERS
Please return the bottom portion of the Progress reports.
Please return the field trip form. 
We will begin Subtraction Gumball Math next week.
Complete the Six Flags reading logs with 6 hours of reading for your child to receive a Six Flags ticket. 
Wednesday is Valentine's Day. Please send in a box or bag for Valentine's by February 13th. 
Friday is Teddy Bear day, so the students may bring a Teddy Bear.
Friday is also movie day with Night of the Museum to wrap up our Theodore Roosevelt unit.

REMINDERS

PARENTS,

Please keep an eye out for the progress reports coming home today. Please just sign, remove the bottom and return the bottom portion. You can keep the top portion.

Also, I sent home field trip forms yesterday. Please return the form and payment.

We will be exchanging valentines in the morning of the February 14th. Please refer to the letter that came home if your child would like to personalize the valentines.

Teddy Bear day is February 16th and Movie Day is February 16th (Night at the Museum). We are wrapping up our Theodore Roosevelt unit.

WEEK OF FEBRUARY 5

What is your child learning this week?
In Math, we will continue/complete strategies for adding three numbers. We will begin adding two digit/one digit numbers and two digit/multiples of 10. 
In Social Studies, we will continue learning about Theodore Roosevelt. Please remember that on February 16, we will have Teddy Bear Day, and we will be watching "Night at the Museum" as an end to our Theodore Roosevelt unit. Please return the movie permission form ONLY if your child is NOT ALLOWED to watch the movie. 
In Reading/Language Arts/Writing, we will be continuing our unit on opinion writing and completing our pieces for the writing fair (which are actually opinion, not narrative).

Week of January 29

Hello Parents! I hope you had a great weekend!

What is your child learning this week?
In Math, we will be continuing to work on 10 more/10 less than any number. Also, we will be reviewing some concepts like fact families, missing addend and strategies to add three numbers.  
In Science, we will be going to the Science lab and beginning to learn about Light and Shadows. 
In Social Studies, we will complete Lewis and Clark/Sacagawea and begin Theodore Roosevelt. We will spend a lot of time in the Learning Commons working on a Lewis and Clark project. 
In Reading/Language Arts/Writing, we will be reviewing narrative writing for the writing fair pieces and continuing opinion writing.

Please remember that Addition Gumball Math will be over on February 9, so the students should continue to practice math facts. We will begin Subtraction Gumball math soon after. 

Keep an eye out for the Six Flags Read to Succeed reading logs coming home. If the students log 6 hours of reading, they will receive a six flags ticket. 

Later this week, you will see some information come home regarding "Teddy Bear Day" and a movie permission form.
